Latoya Jordan ‘06, featured on the cover in 2019, is an American Sign Language Interpreter and a CODA, a child of a deaf adult. She has worked in several fields within the profession, from interpreting for state and federal agencies, to medical appointments, from theater and film and post secondary education, to concerts and music festivals. Recently, she participated in the University of Northern Colorado’s Project CLIMB: Cultivating Legal Interpreters from Minority Backgrounds.

Latoya Jordan received a Certification of Completion from the University of Northern Colorado’s Project CLIMB (Cultivating Legal Interpreters from Minority Backgrounds), which is not to be confused with the Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, Inc.’s Specialist Certificate: Legal. An error by magazine staff allowed that inaccurate copy point into the print version. The testing for the latter certification, which she does not hold, has been on moratorium since 2016.
