A Week at the G, now in its fourth year, captured photos of both everyday life and once-in-a-lifetime events during an early spring week on campus. From classrooms and labs to performances and events, University Communications photographers and students, faculty, and staff gave us all unique perspectives on campus and academic life. Also, during that week, UNCG celebrated the record-breaking Light the Way campaign.

SING OUT Students led by CVPA Assistant Professor of Commercial Voice Janinah Burnett sang to a crowd of UNCG torchbearers at the campaign celebration event. From left to right are Jasmine Woodard, Chianne Spencer, Eleanor Faub, Alannah McMillan, and James Davis. The song, “Glint,” was written by University Advancement’s Jason Alison. The students’ “You Belong” T-shirts were made to honor the naming of the Marcus T. Johnson Alumni House in Fall 2025.
A SHARP EYE Corey Jordan ’17, a professional photographer based in Madison, N.C., shared a unique view of campus. From the third floor of the Elliott University Center (EUC), she could stare directly into the EUC seal. Goes to show, it’s all in how you look at it!
PAWS BETWEEN CLASSES A Week at the G also captures photographs of student life, clubs, classes, and just hanging out. University Communications photographer Sean Norona ’13 happened to pass musical theatre student Tatiana Ramirez near Shaw Residence Hall on the Quad. Her matcha, puppy, and UNCG tote perfectly complemented the sunny day.
CLOSING THE LOOP The biggest part of University life is the pursuit of academic excellence. Here, social work students joined their professor, Daniel Rhodes ’94, ’08 PhD, in a peacemaking circle (a restorative justice practice) and discussed the struggles and wins that come with pursuing careers in social work.
ON THE RISE For setter Bloom Princell and outside hitter Kendall Lanclos (l-r), springtime is the time to prepare for the fall season. The most recent season was the team’s best in five years. The Spartan volleyball program got a tremendous boost from the late donor James Dutton, whose nearly $4 million in planned gifts during the Light the Way campaign is set to elevate the program.
HIGH LIGHTS As the sun set on March 26 in the UNCG Soccer Stadium, the most highly attended event during A Week at the G took place. Thousands watched an exhilarating drone show light up the sky. At the campaign’s close, 26,684 donors had made gifts totaling more than $266 million – a story written in the Spartan sky.
THE WINNER IS … Student photographer Osaiyah Dash, who spotted a fellow Spartan taking advantage of a warm Friday afternoon in Foust Park – the perfect spot to relax and create some art work. This photo was chosen as the best student submission of the week.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our fourth annual campus‑wide photo project and helped make this year’s Week at the G a true celebration of life at UNCG. From classrooms and labs to performances, events, and everyday moments, the photos shared throughout the week captured the authentic Spartan experience.
